Puerto Vallarta, locally called PV or Vallarta, is a beach resort city in the Jalisco state of Mexico. Situated on the Pacific Ocean, the city is named after a former governor of the state, Ignacio Vallarta. It is a city with best of both the worlds- fun-filled nightlife, outdoor adventure, amazing natural scenic views, & what not. The downtown area is the oldest part of the city & has most of the popular attractions. It was declared a Cultural Heritage of the State of Jalisco on 21st July 2018. The Malecon (Seaside Promenade)
Malecon is one of the main attractions in PV & also one of the most enjoyable too. It runs along the sea, with several shops, restaurants, bars, & pubs on its other side. There a separate lane dedicated for skaters, Segway, & bicycles. The entire area has various sculptures including Millennia Statue, Origin and Destination, Nature as Mother, Nostalgia, The Subtle Rock Eater, The Good Fortune Unicorn, & more. The Seahorse Statue (The Boy on the Seahorse) is a symbol of the city. In fact, several sculptures have been designed to sit & climb upon.
Parish of Our Lady of Guadalupe (Church)
The Parish of Our Lady of Guadalupe is an icon of the Vallarta city, situated in the city center. Dominating the area❜s skyline, it one of the favorite symbols & city❜s landmarks which can be seen not only on photos, but also on postcards, logos, & shirts. The church is the spiritual center of the Catholics in the region. Every year from 1st-12th December the Our Lady of Guadalupe Festival (also known as Feast of Guadalupe) is held here.
Vallarta Botanical Gardens
Vallarta Botanical Gardens lies at a little distance from downtown PV. Spread over 64 acres area, one can reach here within 35-40 minutes by car. Founded by Bob Price in 2004, it was opened for public in 2005. The garden is really worth a visit with nature, trees, flowers, jungle, & restaurant. Sitting on a couch, enjoy the peaceful & calm environment, feel the breeze, & listen to chirpings of the birds. This is a fun place where one can enjoy a day❜s trip & hiking.
Puerto Vallarta (PV or Vallarta) can be visited anytime of the year. Since the city is surrounded by jungle, summers here are wet. There are much higher chance of rain during summer season (specially in afternoon & evening) than Winters.
